About the Koh Ha and Koh Rok Snorkeling Tour

We did this tour with the “Sinthongchai Speedboat Travel & Tours” company. You can buy their trip at most tourist stalls in Koh Lanta. Here’s a quick list of things about the tour:

  • The tour takes the whole day;
  • You go on a speedboat;
  • It includes three or four stops for snorkeling;
  • It stops at Koh Rok Yai beach for buffet-style lunch;
  • Water and fresh fruit are also included;
  • You can also swim and snorkel from the beach;
  • All equipment, including fins, is included.

Is the Koh Ha and Koh Rok Snorkeling Tour Worth It?

Short answer: 100% yes. This was the best tour we did during our whole time in Thailand. It was simply unforgettable. I really wanted to see Nemo, the clownfish, in real life. At the tourist stalls in Koh Lanta, they recommended me this tour and said I was guaranteed to see Nemo—they were right.

Not only that, but we saw lots of healthy corals, starfish, black sea urchins, trumpetfish, titan triggerfish, moorish idol, parrot fish, giant clams, black sea urchins, and many more species that I don’t even know the name. This was much better than the snorkeling tours we did in Koh Phi Phi and Ao Nang.

All places included in the tour were so beautiful that I was quite surprised to not have heard about them before.

If you’re still not convinced or want to learn more, continue reading for a more detailed description of what the tour was like.

Where to Buy the Koh Ha and Koh Rok Snokeling Tour?

We got our tour in one tourist stall in Koh Lanta. Almost every hotel, restaurant, guesthouse, or small business sells tours. We got ours from a restaurant next to our hotel. The tour company is “Sinthongchai Speedboat Travel & Tour”. They have a website for booking, but it was not working when I tried to access it. So, make sure you book it when you arrive at Koh Lanta.

The tour was 1600 baht per person with the National Park fees included. This is around 40€ per person, which is a bit expensive for Thailand. However, it was really worth it and it exceeded so much my expectations that I don’t regret any of the money spent.

If you want to buy your tour in advance, you can use GetYourGuide for example. You’ll probably pay a bit more, but you’ll guarantee a spot and you can read reviews from previous costumers.

Koh Ha and Koh Rok Snorkeling Tour What to Expect

Our tour started with pick up from the hotel. They picked us up at the exact agreed time. We went on a songthaew and collected other tourists along the way to the starting point of the tour, the Laem Kho Kwang Beach. This is the starting point for several tours, so make sure you are with the right group so you don’t end up on the wrong tour.

At about 9 AM, we were all ready at the speedboat to start the tour. Our guide spoke really good English and explained about the names of the places we were going to see as well as what to expect.

Snorkeling in Koh Ha

Around approximately 45 minutes, we arrived at our first snorkeling spot, Koh Ha. We were in this snorkeling spot for approximately 45 minutes.

I was amazed to see so many healthy beautiful corals, including brain corals, and such variety of fish. It seemed like we were swimming in a big aquarium. Even though the water was a bit rough, the visibility was really good. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any anemones or clownfish in this spot.

Since we didn’t have an underwater camera with us, the quality of the underwater photos is not the best; some pictures were sourced from Google but still depict the snorkeling spots we’re referring.

Snorkeling in Koh Rok Noi

After the spot in Koh Ha, we went back on the speedboat and after approximately 30 minutes, we arrived at Koh Rok Noi for our second snorkeling stop. Here the water is much more blue and turquoise color. It’s really like paradise.

This spot was quite different from the previous one. Our guide said that in this place we could see anemones and clownfish. So, we were super focused trying to find them.

After a while, a little bit further away from the boat, we spot some anemones and a whole family of clownfish. I was so happy to finally see them. They are much smaller than I though and super cute. They never swim far away from the anemone. So, if you want to find them, you just need to look for anemones.

We then found five or six more anemones with clownfish and other similar species with different stripes. Of course, besides the cowfish we saw many beautiful corals and other colorful tropical fish that we’ve never seen before, like the parrotfish. This snorkeling spot was much better than the previous one.

Koh Rok Yai Beach

After this stop we went to the Koh Rok Yai beach for a break and to have lunch. This beach is absolutely stunning. When you imagine a paradise beach, this is exactly what comes to mind—crystal-clear blue water, soft white sand, and picturesque swings along the shore that create a nice setting to relax with your loved one and get some beautiful perfect shots.

You can also see several monitor lizards on the island. They are not dangerous and they are super scared of people.

For lunch, we had a delicious chicken curry with rice. The drinks were included as well as fresh fruit, pineapple and watermelon.

We stayed on the island for about two hours, yet we felt as though we could have spent the entire day on this incredible little piece of paradise.

There were great snorkeling spots next to the beach, but the tide was too low, so swimming was a little bit difficult here.

Around 2 PM, we returned to the speedboat for one final snorkeling spot. We were given the choice between spending time at the beach on Koh Rok Noi or snorkeling at another location on Koh Rok Yai.

We decided to go snorkeling. I wanted to see clownfish again. In this last spot, we saw a bigger number of anemones with those purples colors we often see in professional photos and more clownfish.

After our last snorkeling stop, we went back to Koh Lanta. It took around one hour and a half. After getting to the pier, the staff brought everyone back to their hotels. We were back at our hotel around 5 PM.

Koh Ha and Koh Rok Snorkeling Tour – Wrapping Up

This Koh Ha and Koh Rok snorkeling tour was just perfect. Everything went as expected, the guides were super nice and talked very good English, the snorkeling spots were amazing and I crossed one of my bucket-list items: to see Nemo in real life.

Even though the weather was not the best (it was a bit cloudy), it did not took away the beauty of all those magnificent places. I had never heard about these islands until we reached Koh Lanta, so I was really surprised and not expecting to see such beautiful paradise. If you like snorkeling, you have to go on this tour.

If you would like to book with the same company, you should buy your tour in Koh Lanta and the name of the provider is “Sinthongchai Speedboat Travel & Tour”. Almost every tourist stall sells this tour.
